This magical floral piece is highly inspired by the Hungarian floral embroidery found on my trip and is the centerpiece of this collection. The jacket is a vintage black velvet piece from the 1950's with poofed shoulders. The back is adorned with a beautiful wall hanging of a gradient of pink floral embroidery from the 1960's with red and green trim. I then embellished it with a gold leaf detailing. Buttons and other findings are sourced in the city of Budapest. The embroidery in the front is from a repurposed napkin from the 1960's. 3D embroidered flowers from Hungary originally used for this piece are now a signature element of this collection.

This piece comes from a series I created from materials sourced from independent specialty and second hand shops in the countryside and city of Hungary, my ancestral lineage. All of the details are vintage aside from some trim and buttons which were selected in Budapest. These magical pieces of wearable art are a journey through a European textile treasure hunt. The results are truly unique jackets, vests and accessories that are impossible to recreate a duplicate of. When you wear a design from this Danube Design Series you are wearing the stories of memories woven into these fibers.
